Academia Sinica Press Conference on First Result from Event Horizon Telescope (EHT)

事件視界望遠鏡（EHT）計畫將與中央研究院共同舉辦全球同步記者會，發表最新取得之重大成果。

本活動將與全球五處（布魯塞爾、聖地牙哥、上海、東京、華盛頓特區）同步舉行。臺北由中研院廖俊智院長主持，並由參與計畫之中研院天文及天文物理研究所科學家淺田圭一及中村雅德做簡報說明（現場有專人中文翻譯）。

The Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) project and the Academia Sinica (AS), together with the Academia Sinica Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics (ASIAA), will hold a press conference to present a groundbreaking result from the EHT.

  • Who: The event will be introduced by the AS President Liao, and a panel of EHT researchers will also deliver remarks and answer questions (Chinese translation will be available):
    • Keiichi Asada (ASIAA Associate Research Fellow)
    • Masanori Nakamura (ASIAA GLT/VLBI Project Research Scientist)

In addition to the press conference in Taipei, other press conferences will be held simultaneously in Brussels, Santiago, Shanghai, Taipei, Tokyo, and Washington D.C. Speakers in some of the locations to include:

  • The European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, Carlos Moedas, will speak in Brussels.
  • Director of the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array, Sean Dougherty, and European Southern Observatory Director General Xavier Barcons will speak in Santiago.
  • Director of the National Science Foundation, France Córdova, will speak in Washington D.C.
